"Dad always urged me to get involved in public service. I promised him that I would but the time wasn't right until now."John's two grandchildren are his inspiration for running for office. He sees how quickly the world is changing and knows that not only do we need to solve immediate problems but to also plan for the long-term. One of John's biggest concerns is that there isn't enough economic opportunity to keep young people here.

Andy and I started our first chapter together right here in LeRoy with our first apartment and our first baby. We lived in Pavilion for several years but came back to LeRoy in 2014. Ever since, I’ve worked on projects to make our community stronger and more vibrant.&nbsp;I believe that LeRoy deserves a Legislative Representative who understands our community’s values and is willing to work hard for a better future. <h4>Giving Voters a Choice</h4>Genesee County usually doesn't see contested races, but Michael Plitt believes in offering choices for local office. While talking with his neighbors, Mike keeps hearing that they have 3 main concerns: taxes, taxes, and taxes. "Yes, I'm a Democrat, but I hate paying taxes, too. I just want them used efficiently." Mike's issues include:<ul><li>The high price of water in Pembroke and Darien: "The County Legislature could equalize water rates throughout the county."</li><li>Concern about the STAMP Project: Stalled and broken promises have made this a mistake. "Let's stop throwing good money after bad." <h4>Communication and Transparency</h4><ul><li>Batavia's City Council needs to listen more to residents and allow the expression of new ideas and diverse opinions.</li><li>Communicate and follow up on citizens' concerns about planning before big changes and projects start. </li><li>Frequent property assessment and tax increases are pushing life in Batavia to the edge of unaffordable. The City needs to explore alternative revenue sources.</li><li>Balance downtown investment with community growth with a focus on recreational and green spaces.</li></ul><h4>Working for Positive Change in Batavia</h4>

The first hurdle our candidates face is gathering signatures from registered Democrats during the petitioning period. The petitioning process begins Tuesday, February 24, 2026 and ends on the filing deadline of April 2nd. Residents should have access to board meetings - including zoning and planning sessions - by attending in person or by virtual connection.</li><li>Local government should actively seek and listen to ideas and input from residents.</li><li>Encourage business growth while maintaining Pembroke's neighborly atmosphere.</li><li>Balance commercial development with the impact it has on Pembroke's citizens and tax base.</li><li>Ensure that water district installation is done with input from property owners and keep them informed as the projects progress.</li><li>Pembroke's parks should be well managed and maintained for families to enjoy. We need to develop clear policies for park facility rental and create written agreements to protect both the renter and the Town of Pembroke.</li></ul><h4>I am ready to work WITH you for Pembroke!</h4>
