My experience ranges from budgeting to planning and zoning. <h5>New York State Public Campaign Finance Matching Funds Program</h5><p><strong>About Matching Funds: </strong>The New York State Public Campaign Finance Program was voted into law in April 2020 with amendments and program structure changes passed in June 2023. The system, which covers statewide and state legislative offices, began allowing participation for state legislative candidates in the 2024 election cycle and for statewide offices in the 2026 election cycle.</p><p><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-primary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-primary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-primary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-primary);">Purpose</strong>:</span> The purpose of the program is to increase the influence of small donors and reduce reliance on large contributions. It helps candidates of modest economic means to run for office. Candidates must reach a specific threshold of dollars raised from a specified minimum number of donors within the district to qualify for matching funds.</p><p><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-primary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-primary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-primary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-primary);">Threshold to Qualify:</strong></span> Victoria Guite’s campaign must raise at least $8,000 from at least 150 in-district individuals to qualify for PCF funding. "Dad always urged me to get involved in public service. I promised him that I would but the time wasn't right until now."</p><p>John's two grandchildren are his inspiration for running for office. He sees how quickly the world is changing and knows that not only do we need to solve immediate problems but to also plan for the long-term. One of John's biggest concerns is that there isn't enough economic opportunity to keep young people here.</p>

<h5>From Nikki Calhoun:<br></h5><p>I’m Nikki Calhoun, and I’m proudly running as a Democrat to represent LeRoy in the Genesee County Legislature.</p><p>I’ve been married to Andy, my high school sweetheart, for 22 years and we have three amazing daughters. Andy and I started our first chapter together right here in LeRoy with our first apartment and our first baby. We lived in Pavilion for several years but came back to LeRoy in 2014. Ever since, I’ve worked on projects to make our community stronger and more vibrant.&nbsp;</p><p>I believe that LeRoy deserves a Legislative Representative who understands our community’s values and is willing to work hard for a better future. I bring experience to the table, along with fresh eyes and new ideas to solve our problems. </p>

Residents should have access to board meetings - <em>including zoning and planning sessions - </em>by attending in person or by virtual connection.</p></li><li><p>Local government should actively seek <em>and listen </em>to ideas and input from residents.</p></li><li><p>Encourage business growth while maintaining Pembroke's neighborly atmosphere.</p></li><li><p>Balance commercial development with the impact it has on Pembroke's citizens and tax base.</p></li><li><p>Ensure that water district installation is done with input from property owners and keep them informed as the projects progress.</p></li><li><p>Pembroke's parks should be well managed and maintained for families to enjoy. We need to develop clear policies for park facility rental and create written agreements to protect both the renter and the Town of Pembroke.</p></li></ul><h5>I am ready to work <em>WITH </em>you for Pembroke!</h5>
